The uptake of point source carbon capture, utilization and storage (CCUS) technologies is projected to grow in the coming decades and play a key role in decarbonization efforts across various industries. However, growth will depend on a variety of factors. In the Achieved Commitments (AC) scenario, in which net-zero commitments are achieved by leading countries through purposeful policies, global CCUS uptake would reach some *** billion metric tons of carbon dioxide (GtCOâ‚‚) per year. Cement, blue hydrogen, iron and steel, and power are projected to account for more than ** percent of total CCUS uptake by 2050.
