China had *** completed large-scale CCUS projects as of 2021. The most established is the CNPC Jilin oilfield-adjacent site, which was completed in 2018. Its annual capture and storage capacity amounts to some ** metric tons. Most projects are the result of the governments push for curtailing carbon emissions and as such built by state-owned enterprises. Among the largest CCUS sites currently under development are *** further CNPC-owned projects in Daqing and Changqing, which are expected to have an annual capacity of *** metric tons and set to begin operation by 2030.
