The total outstanding amounts of the Bank of England's sterling-indexed long-term repo (ILTR) operation fluctuated significantly between 2014 and 2025. In the first quarter of 2024, ILTR amounted to roughly * British pounds. ILTR is a regular market-wide operation and a part of the Bank of England's liquidity framework. It allows market participants to borrow central bank reserves (cash) for a six-month period in exchange for other, less liquid assets (collateral).
