* Prior to 2021, the criteria for hypertension were as follows: systolic blood pressure greater than 140 mmHg, or diastolic blood pressure greater than 90 mmHg, or taking hypertension medication. From 2021 onwards, oscillatory blood pressure devices were used to measure blood pressure.

In 2023, around **** percent of men aged 70 or over in South Korea had high blood pressure (hypertension). This shows almost same percentage points with women in the same age range. High blood pressure was significantly more common among older age groups in general.
