* Prior to 2021, the criteria for hypertension were as follows: systolic blood pressure greater than 140 mmHg, or diastolic blood pressure greater than 90 mmHg, or taking hypertension medication. From 2021 onwards, oscillatory blood pressure devices were used to measure blood pressure.

In 2023, around **** percent of men in South Korea had high blood pressure (hypertension). This was almost seven percentage points higher than for women. There have been no significant changes over the past decade for either gender.
