The fines include those where personal data transfers (Art. 46) outside the EU are among other violations.
As of March 2026, five organizations had received fines under the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) for transferring data outside the European Union. The highest penalty, with the amount of 1.2 billion euros, was imposed on Meta Platforms Ireland Limited by the Irish data privacy authority Data Protection Commission (DPC) in May 2023.
The most recent fine in this category was imposed on TikTok Technology Limited in Ireland in May 2025, at 530 million euros.
