The government response index measures the national efforts in 176 countries to end modern slavery, looking at legal, policy, and programmatic dimensions. An index score with a maximum of 100 points (best possible response) is given based on 141 indicators.

In the Asia-Pacific region, Australia had the strongest response to modern slavery with an index score of ** out of 100. The Philippines and Thailand followed behind. On the other hand, North Korea had the lowest score with minus ***, which was also the weakest response . North Korea is involved in state-imposed forced labor, modern slavery being a part of the state structure in the country.
