The Global Slavery Index contains data on modern slavery in 160 countries. The government response index measures the national efforts in 176 countries to end modern slavery, looking at legal, policy, and programmatic dimensions. An index score with a maximum of 100 points (best possible response) is given based on 141 indicators.
*Six further countries had a score of 59. These were Belgium, Croatia, Czechia, Italy, Latvia, and the Philippines.

The United Kingdom was ranked as the country with the strongest response to modern slavery, with an index score of **** out of 100. Despite this, the UK saw a worsening of its score since 2018, among other factors, this was due to a reduction in protective measures for victims. North Korea was the country with the highest number of people in modern slavery per 1,000 inhabitants.
