Supplementary notes
The BTI rule of law index captures to which extent political power is separated, the judiciary is independent, office abuse is prosecuted, and civil rights are enforced. The countries are given index scores from one to 10, which indicate the following:
1-2.49 = poor rule of law
2.50-4.49 = flawed rule of law
4.50-6.49 = fair rule of law
6.50-8.49 = sound rule of law
8.50-10 = excellent rule of law
