Canada's methane (CH4) emissions increased by two percent in 2022 to 115.6 million metric tons of carbon dioxide equivalent (MtCOâ‚‚e). This was the second consecutive year that the North American country's CH4 emissions increased, continuing to rebound from the dramatic reductions observed in 2020 during the COVID-19 outbreak. Despite this growth, CH4 emissions have remained below pre-pandemic levels.
