A survey conducted in the third quarter of 2024 found that around 61.7 percent of internet users in Chile used social media to stay in touch with friends and family. Filling spare time was the second main reason for using social media for almost half of the respondents. Reading news stories and finding content were important reasons for 47.7 percent and 45.6 percent of social media users, respectively.
