According to a study performed in Spain in February 2021, anxiolytics were the most prescribed type of drugs for mental health treatment in the European country. As of that date, nearly *** out of ten interviewees treated with medication for mental health conditions received anxiolytics, such as lorazepam or clonazepam, while around ** percent were prescribed antidepressants. The same study found that anxiety and depressive disorders were the most common reasons to consult a mental health professional in Spain.
