Across the Asia-Pacific region, all observed economies lowered their policy interest rates between the end of 2023 and the end of 2025, with the sole exception of Taiwan. Over this period, India’s policy rate declined from *** percent to *** percent, while Hong Kong reduced its rate from *** percent to *** percent. Australia also implemented monetary easing, cutting its policy rate from *** percent to *** percent. In contrast, Taiwan followed a divergent path, increasing its policy rate from **** percent to *** percent over the same period.
