In 2022, over half of the Kenyan participants in a Christmas survey who were planning on taking loans for Christmas said they would take bank loans outside of banks to cover holiday expenses. Another 31 percent said they would take cash loans from outside banks, while 18 percent were planning on asking family and relatives.
