A survey conducted at the end of 2021 looking at the effects of COVID-19 on newsrooms across the United States found that most radio newsrooms had not canceled local news due to the pandemic and economic disruption, with **** percent of commercial stations and **** percent of non-commercial stations saying that had not done so. However, there was a clear difference when it came to commercial versus non-commercial stations. Whilst just under five percent of commercial stations had canceled local news because of the COVID-19 outbreak, for non-commercial stations the share who answered that they had amounted to almost ** percent.
