According to an August 2021 survey, over half of adults in the United States considered social media to have a negative impact on people like themselves, the most of any technology surveyed. Smart technology was considered to have the most positive impact with 41 percent citing a positive impact on people like them, while NFTs (non-fungible tokens) were the most unknown among respondents, with 51 percent saying that they were unfamiliar with the term.
