According to a survey conducted in July 2026, around 19 percent of adults aged 18 years and older in the United States stated that they had to cut their prescription pills in half or completely skip their doses at least once in the past year due to costs. Meanwhile, 31 percent of respondents took an over-the-counter drug instead of taking the prescribed medicine.Â
