In 2021, Netflix spent at least triple what other streaming services spent on creating original content. The streaming service spent over * U.S. dollars on original content that year, while the production costs of both Amazon Prime Video and Apple TV+ amounted to dollars each. Hulu's spending on original content has been consistently low in comparison, going from U.S. dollars in 2017 to * U.S. dollars in 2021. While Netflix's original content spending doubled between 2019 and 2021, Apple TV+ nearly tripled their original content spending between these years.
