A survey conducted in January 2022 found that 73 percent of U.S. internet users agreed that social media companies should be doing more to identify and remove potential catfish from their platforms. Furthermore, ten percent of adults said that social media companies were doing enough with regards to taking action on catfishing. Overall, three percent of respondents felt that companies should be doing less to identify and remove catfishing accounts from their platforms.
