According to a survey carried out in 2020 in both Guatemala and Mexico to immigrants from different Latin American countries, about half of respondents stated that the fees charged by smugglers had increased compared to before the COVID-19 crisis. Approximately ** percent did not know if smugglers' prices had changed during this crisis. Moreover, ** percent of respondents said their need for a smuggler was the same or greater than before the pandemic.
