In 2025, Argentina was the most welcoming country in Latin America to refugees fleeing war or persecution, with 79 percent of respondents agreeing that people should be able to seek refuge in other countries, including Mexico. Meanwhile, Mexico was the only country with less than 50 percent support for accepting refugees fleeing war and had the highest disagreement rate, at 49 percent, among the selected Latin American countries this year.
