In 2020, power system flexibility needs in the United States were estimated at 46 gigawatts. By 2030, this figure is forecast to increase by more than 30 percent, reaching nearly 60 gigawatts. Flexibility supports the reliability of the electricity supply and in the U.S. is widely provided by gas-fired power plants.
