The sales value of heat-not-burn tobacco products in Japan peaked in the first quarter of fiscal year 2024, at over 470 billion Japanese yen. Throughout the whole year, the total sales reached almost *** trillion yen. Heated tobacco is growing popular as an alternative to cigarettes, since they are partially exempt from the stricter enforcement of smoking bans in Japan.
