Due to the impact of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, many global art fairs were canceled or rescheduled in 2020. According to a March 2021 study focusing on *** fine art, decorative, and antique fairs worldwide, ** percent of the art fairs considered held online editions in 2020 as an alternative to their in-person events during the pandemic. When focusing on the canceled fairs, the share of online editions rose to ** percent. In contrast, only ** percent of the held art fairs offered an online alternative in 2020.
