High net worth individuals (HNWIs) are those with a net worth over one million U.S. dollars excluding their primary residence. Wealth is inclusive of real assets, such as real estate, land, and vehicles, and financial assets such as stocks and bonds.
The European country with the highest number of HNWIs in 2022 was Germany, followed by France and the United Kingdom. The number of HNWIs in the UK reached 2.89 million individuals in 2022, with forecasts expecting continued growth of this number to grow. The UK is also home to some of the top wealth holders globally. Roughly 27,000 individuals located in the UK are considered to be in the top 10 percent of global wealth holders.
