During 2021's coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, approximately seven in ten U.S. consumers without pets had no intention of buying or permanently adopting a pet animal. In the next few years, however, the share of non-pet owners that are thinking about purchasing or adopting a pet is forecast to grow.
