Data were weighted to approximate a target sample of adults based on age, race/ethnicity, gender, educational attainment, and region. Results from the full survey have a margin of error of plus or minus 1 percentage points.

The original survey question was formulated as: "Do you expect to own a home in the future?"

This survey question's respondents were 271 GenZers (1997-2012), 737 millennials (1981-1996), 439 GenXers (1965-1980) and 375 Baby Boomers (1946-1964).

In a September 2020 survey among adults in the United States, ** percent of Millennials said that they were currently saving up to buy a house, as compared to ** percent of Baby Boomers. While just percent of GenZers said that they never plan or expect to own a home, in **** Baby Boomers said so (** percent).
