Benson & Hedges was the top-selling cigarette brand in convenience retailers in the United Kingdom in 2025. The brand had sales of over  million pounds in that year. JPS had slightly lower sales figures during the same period. Marlboro, the most valuable tobacco brand worldwide, came in just fifth place, with around million British pounds in sales in convenience and independent grocery retailers in the UK in 2025. 

Cigarettes in the UK

Some of the most popular cigarette brands in the UK are manufactured by Imperial Brands, including John Player Special, Davidoff, West and Winston amongst others. Imperial Brands saw its global revenues increase over time to reach more than ** billion British pounds in 2024. While revenues for tobacco manufacturers worldwide have either increased or remained somewhat stable, consumption of cigarettes has however significantly decreased. In the United Kingdom, annual expenditure on tobacco has steeply declined over the years, decreasing from around ** billion British pounds in 2005 to ** billion pounds in 2022. To substitute for cigarette consumption, many health-conscious consumers have turned to electronic cigarettes, the market for which is expected to generate increasing revenues over the coming years in the UK.
