From 2020 onwards, the number of visits has witnessed a noticable growth. The revenue of the Takealot group increased significantly in 2025, as the platform generated *** million U.S dollars in revenue in that year.

Leading online marketplaces

Based on the monthly number of visits of e-commerce platforms in Africa as of 2024, Takealot.com ranked third with some ** million visits. Jumia, the online marketplace founded in Nigeria, led the ranking with roughly ** million registered visits. Observing the main companies in Africa by market capitalization, Naspers, a multinational holding owning various e-commerce subsidiaries, ranked first. Its outstanding shares had a market value of over ****  billion U.S. dollars. One of the subsidiaries of Naspers is Takealot.com.

Steady increase in revenue Naspers

 In 2015, the merge between Takealot.com and Naspers-owned e-commerce platform Kalahari.com was successfully completed. Three years later, the parent company increased investment in Takealot.com to ** percent. The revenue of Naspers increased steadily between 2013 and 2023. Between the period considered, the revenue of the global internet and media company registered an increase of approximately ** billion U.S. dollars.
