The coronavirus (COVID-19) has had a negative impact on consumer desire to shop in general and particularly during the Christmas season in Germany. The situation continues to change daily in terms of confirmed case numbers and restrictions implemented by the government, but as of the time the survey at hand was conducted, 77 percent of respondents did not think things would return to normal by Christmas and 54 percent stated they would not go to the traditional German Christmas markets.
