The study evaluated 151 Mexican companies, based on the list of leading companies in Mexico in 2018 reported by Expansión magazine, taking into consideration their status, sector and level of impact in the sector.

As of 2019, only *** percent of Mexican companies were proactive in their engagement in climate change mitigation, according to an assessment of *** of the leading companies in the country. This means that the companies in question have a proper report of their COâ‚‚ emissions, as well as mitigation goals in line with the Paris Agreement. Reactive companies - which comply with the minimum requisites of emissions reporting for at least **** consecutive years - made up for ** percent of companies analyzed. Meanwhile, ** percent were deemed inactive, failing to properly report their annual emissions.
