Less than 44 percent of internet users surveyed in all provinces of Peru except Lima said that they had accessed news websites from February 20, 2020 to March 5, 2020. Once the first case of COVID-19 in the South American country was reported, on March 6, 2020, until March 21, 2020, almost 53 percent of the respondents in those regions stated that they had visited news websites. That represents an increase of nearly nine percentage points. Meanwhile, in Lima, there was an increase of 7.7 percentage points.
