According to a survey conducted in December 2019, about ** percent of the Islamic faith and ** percent of the Hindu faith from India believed that the recent government policies such as the Citizenship Amendment Act, and the proposed all-India National Register of Citizens were attempts made by the government to divert attention from serious economic issues like unemployment and price rise. Many violent protests had been carried out in the country since December 12, 2019, after the CAA was enacted into law amidst chaos and controversy.
