In 2022, 16 percent of women students in France reported having experienced or witnessed a sexual assault. Sexual assault is defined as any sexual or physical harm done to a victim by force, threat, violence or surprise. If there is penetration under the same conditions, the act is no longer considered sexual assault but rape.
