According to a survey conducted in Japan from January to March 2019, the most popular game genres among respondents aged 10 to 29 years were action games and social games. Both genres were played by more than ** percent of respondents. The survey was conducted with a focus on gaming disorders. Gaming disorders were recognized by the World Health Organization (WHO) as a medical condition in May 2019.
