According to a survey conducted in Japan from January to March 2019, approximately ** percent of respondents aged 10 to 29 years old played video games mainly online. About a third of respondents preferred offline gaming. The survey was conducted with a focus on gaming disorders. Gaming disorders were recognized by the World Health Organization (WHO) as a medical condition in May 2019.
