In an online survey of 2019, more than ** percent of freelancers in Japan answered that they had experienced power harassment at their workplace. More than **** of respondents reported that they had experienced sexual harassment. Although the Japanese parliament voted for stricter action against workplace harassment in ***, the revised legislation did not cover freelance workers. About ** percent of those who had experienced harassment themselves stated that they did not talk about it with other people.
