Over the period from January 1 to December 30, 2024, the largest area burned by forest fires in Russia was recorded in the Sakha (Yakutia) Republic, where wildfires swelled approximately 3.4 million hectares. In the Zabaykalsky Krai in the Far Eastern District, more than two million hectares were burned over the same period.
