Despite inflation, households in the United Kingdom have been able to increase their savings in the past couple of years. Between the second quarter of 2022 and the last one of 2024, the value of household savings as a share of their disposable income doubled in size. Attitudes towards saving depend on the sociodemographic factors of the country, but also on the employment rate and consumer confidence. Therefore, uncertain economic climates can affect how much people decide to save. Still, the savings rate in the United Kingdom (UK) is expected to remain between eight and nine percent in the coming years.
