Like in other countries worldwide, the consumption of movies, TV shows, and videos on the internet in Sweden increased considerably in the past years. Between 2016 and 2022, the share of Swedes using video streaming platforms more than doubled. Additionally, the over-the-top video revenue in the Scandinavian country is forecast to grow by over 500 million U.S. dollars from 2022 to 2027, reaching roughly 1.58 billion U.S. dollars by 2027. While subscription video-on-demand (SVOD) has long been the most watched online video content segment, ad-supported streaming has clearly caught up.
