Construction industry in Portugal - statistics & facts
The Portuguese construction industry has been exhibiting growth during the past years, with revenue figures reaching over 34 billion euros in 2023, up from less than 19 billion euros just a decade before. The internal market contributes the most to these positive results, as only 10 percent of the revenue of the construction sector sprang from exports in 2023. The segment of civil engineering displayed the highest revenue share obtained through exports, but it also had the highest production index, which equaled around 112 in 2024. However, building construction was not far behind. Thhe share of completed buildings in Portugal was the highest for residential construction with one dwelling.
