Construction industry in Turkey - statistics & facts
The construction sector, one of the largest industries in Turkey, has been shrinking in recent years. In 2022, it registered a negative growth of eight percent. The measures taken to prevent the spread of the coronavirus (COVID-19), the delays and cancellations in existing projects, and the decreasing demand for real estate caused this sharp contraction in the industry. Even though it has fluctuated over recent years, the construction industry’s added value to the country’s gross domestic product (GDP) was still significant, totaling 5.6 percent in 2022.
