U.S. energy landscape under the Trump administration 2025 - statistics & facts
Within the first few weeks in office, the second Trump administration has delivered on promises of introducing steep import tariffs and pausing clean energy funding. As a result, the United States energy landscape could see a notable shake-up in the coming years. With Canada, Mexico, and China accounting for a cumulative 41 percent of wind-related equipment imports into the U.S., trade tariffs of up to 25 percent could lead to costs for onshore wind projects increasing between five and 10 percent.
On the other hand, a focus on strengthening fossil fuel infrastructure and building up further LNG export capacities could result in over one trillion U.S. dollars of GDP contributions from LNG over the next two decades.
