As of 2024, the federal government collected over *** billion U.S. dollars in trade war duties in the United States. While almost ** billion U.S. dollars of the total were collected under Trump's first administration, over *** billion U.S. dollars had been collected under the Biden administration.Â
The vast majority of duties collected were assessed under China Section 301, which refers to tariffs ranging from *** percent to ** percent imposed by the first Trump administration on various Chinese imports. Section 301 of the Trade Act of 1974 is a trade law that gives the authority to take action against trade practices considered unfair to the U.S.Â
