Steel serves as a fundamental material of everyday life. From the construction of bridges and houses to the manufacture of small household appliances, steel is a crucial component. Due to this, it is one of the most demanded products in global industries. In 2023, the worldwide steel demand reached approximately 1.78 billion metric tons, in which 69 percent of demand coming from Asia and the Oceania region. Other important regions, Europe and USMCA (the United States, Canada and Mexico), were far behind Asia, with 183.4 and 132.4 million metric tons, respectively. By 2025, the steel demand was projected to increase by 1.2 percent worldwide. However, meeting the global demand is becoming increasingly challenging.
