Plastics industry in Brazil - statistics & facts
With an active chemicals sector, Brazil is the leading plastic producer in Latin America. In 2023, Brazil produced seven million metric tons of plastics, marking a slight increase from the previous year. Despite this, the overall trend of the production of processed plastic in the country is that of decline, with production decreasing from 8.7 million metric tons in 2010 to seven million metric tons in 2023.
