The result of a survey regarding methods of payment in Italy in 2025 showed that credit cards are the most common payment medium for online purchases. In fact, credit card payments were provided by ***percent of the surveyed Italian e-commerce companies. Digital wallets followed with ***percent of companies.
Cashless solutions increase in popularity
Despite still preferring cash, Italians are slowly changing their habits when it comes to payment methods. Cashless solutions are becoming increasingly popular, also due to the fact that these new payments methods are making purchases online easier and more convenient. In particular, users between 15 and 24 years of age are the main users of digital payment solutions. On the other hand, it is surprising that even for online purchases some people still choose to pay cash on delivery.
What about cryptocurrencies?
According to the results of a survey on fintech and digital finance conducted in Italy, while 70 percent of the respondents declared that they had heard of cryptocurrencies, only less than one in ten said that they own this kind of financial product. However, the interest and the trust appeared to be growing, as about one in **** respondents admitted that they would consider owning cryptocurrencies in the future.
