The survey conducted in the end of 2019 found that ** percent of Hungarian media consumers watched online TV every day or almost every day. However, more than half of respondents never watched television via the internet and a further one percent did not have access to this medium.

Devices used for watching online videos

The findings of a different study also conducted in 2019, shed light on Hungarians’ online video consumption habits. Watching videos on the internet using smartphones was particularly popular with younger generations, as over ** percent of Hungarians between the ages of 15 to 24 years old engaged in this activity. At the same time, laptops were the second most popular device for online video consumption, while only ** percent of surveyed Hungarians used smart TVs for this purpose.

Television consumption

In 2020, almost ** percent of Hungarians watched television every day, making it undoubtedly one of the most popular free time activities in the country. In the last quarter of 2020, Hungarians over the age of ** spent on average seven hours watching TV each day, while in case of the population between the ages of 18 to 49 years, daily television viewing time reached over four hours.
