The circulation of free physical or digital newspapers in Belgium, or so-called "push press", was highest for French language newspapers in 2019. For example, there were French-language free daily newspapers that were read by over 1,000 people, whereas De Zondag was the only Flemish Dutch language free newspaper to achieve that. The source does not explain why this difference exists, more that it is more stark than any differences found between Northern and Southern Belgium when it comes to non-free newspapepers.
