In 2023, crude oil reserves in Mexico amounted to 5.67 billion barrels, a slight decrease compared to the previous year. This was only a tenth of the proved reserves in the 1980s and 1990s. Nevertheless, Mexico continuous to be the second-largest crude oil producer in Latin America, ranking only behind Brazil.
